What we ask

4 Things That Decide the Right Spray Equipment

The best sprayer is not the most expensive one. It is the one that matches these four details.

What you are painting

The type of parts, products or surfaces, their size and the material, such as wood, MDF, steel, aluminum or plastic.

The coating you use

Water-based or solvent-based paint, lacquer, stain, 2K catalyzed coatings, primers or powder.

Your current process

The spray equipment you use today, where you spray, and the challenges you want to solve, such as overspray or slow production.

Your production needs

Approximate volume, how often you paint, and whether the application is manual or automated.

FAQ

Spray Equipment Questions We Hear Often

How do I choose the right spray equipment for my project?

Start with four details: what you are painting (part type, size and material), the coating you use, your current spray process, and your production volume. These decide the right spray technology, fluid delivery and gun setup. Share them in the form above and a specialist will recommend equipment that fits your application and budget.

Is electrostatic spray equipment worth it for water-based paint?

Sometimes, but not always. Electrostatic equipment can improve transfer efficiency and save paint, but systems that reliably handle water-based coatings need extra isolation and cost much more than standard equipment. Most portable electrostatic units are designed for solvent-based coatings. For many shops, an alternative such as HVLP or air-assisted airless reduces overspray and material waste without the large upfront investment.

What is the difference between HVLP, airless and air-assisted airless?

HVLP (high volume, low pressure) gives a fine finish with low overspray and suits cabinetry, furniture and refinishing work. Airless sprays at very high fluid pressure, so it is fast and good for large surfaces and heavy coatings, with a less refined finish. Air-assisted airless combines the two: airless fluid pressure with a little atomizing air, for a fine finish at production speed with less overspray.

Can better spray equipment lower my paint costs?

Yes. Equipment with higher transfer efficiency puts more of your coating on the part and less into the air, the booth filters and the floor. That means less paint purchased, less cleanup and fewer filter changes. Tell us how much paint you use per month and we can show you where the savings could come from.

Do you help with equipment I already own?

Yes. Tell us the brand and model you use today. We supply replacement parts and our factory-authorized service centre repairs and maintains spray and finishing equipment, so upgrading is not always the only answer.

Where is S&S Finishing Systems located?
