Understanding the Sun-Spot Catalytic Heater
The catalytic heater is a type of heater that emits infrared heat without using any flame. This results in heat in the form of medium to long infrared waves. This output is evenly absorbed by a wide range of organic materials such as wood, plastic and metal.A catalytic heater creates this heat using a chemical reaction from broken down molecules. A catalyst within the catalytic heater then causes a catalytic combustion. This occurs when a natural gas in the presence of oxygen creates carbon dioxide, water and heat.Natural gas ignites at a substantially lower temperature, therefore no flame is involved or produced. Far infrared wave emitters are created, producing radiant heat. The heat produced from a catalytic heater has a significantly higher thermal efficiency when compared to conventional heating produced from a non-catalytic heater.

- Control Panel: Both models feature an easy-to-use control panel equipped with a pyrometer (thermal camera), allowing users to set ramp time, curing temperature, and curing time. They offer sequential and continuous operation modes and provide surface temperature accuracy of +/- 1°C (3°F).
- Design: The heaters are mounted on articulated arm systems that provide smooth vertical movement and are equipped with rail systems for easy lateral movement. Each thermo heating head is equipped with a pyrometer to measure high temperatures.
Model Specifications:- HT-100: This standard model offers a wide array of features and is built for durability and performance. It is CSA International approved and operates with very low fuel consumption (less than $0.75 per hour). Energy savings range from 70-80% compared to convection methods.
- HT-200: The premium unit delivers twice the curing surface, with a curing footprint of 4 x 4 feet per heating head. When equipped with two heads, it offers a 4 x 8 feet footprint. It operates 6 to 8 times faster than convection methods.
